What have I done (Ode to Amazon)

It started so innocent, so harmless and so small
When I wanted to knit a pullover for fall
Yarn shops are scarce and the web is so wide
I started to surf and got caught by the tide
So I ordered some yarn, and maybe some more
In colors that I had not considered before

Oh online shopping, what have I done?
I now have a dozen, where I just needed one
I know I should choose the one I like best
As I really have no need for the rest
Pondering choices it just goes to show
The returns might be free, but it’s hard to let go

I need a card but there seems to be none
For just this occasion, or I‘m googling it wrong
So I look for supplies for such a card to make
It seemed so much simpler than baking a cake
Too many different papers and tapes
Stencils and cutters in so many shapes!

Oh online shopping, what have I done?
I now have a dozen, where I just needed one
I know I should choose the one I like best
As I really have no need for the rest
Pondering choices it just goes to show
The returns might be free, but it’s hard to let go

Crafting and books, clothing and more
Why should I ever go visit a store?
When the net makes it easy, I can shop any time
Without wearing pants or standing in line
And buying in bulk must be a good call
As I only pay once for shipping it all!

Now I looked at some cat pics, adorable fluff
And find myself searching for related stuff
Cat toys and cat trees and costumes for pets
The longer I search, the cuter it gets!
My cart is full, curser pointing at „pay“
As I recall that I have no cat anyway!

I would have bought a dozen where I just needed - who am I kidding? - I needed none!
